My mother in law this weekend was telling me all about a movie she recently watched named, “The Crazies”. My kids must have overheard the story line because today they acted it out. This whole day had “the crazies”.
This morning started with a war between myself and the older two on the state of their room. Apparently throwing everything into their closet and shutting the door is “clean”. I gave them their marching order to clean it up, which they totally ignored, and then tried to start getting in the shower. Well we all know that would be too easy right? That’s about the time the phone rang to let me know of an impending house showing (our house is on the market). I went from 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds to get this house in tip top shape as quick as humanly possible, including the room that the two monsters had destroyed. With a quick spritz of the sidewalk, otherwise known as the birdie porta potty, we loaded in the van and headed off to our errands that I had planned later in the day.
For some reason I was shaky and not feeling the best. That’s when I realized that I hadn’t ate anything and had basically just done a marathon at home while cleaning. So we headed to McDonalds which is a horror story in itself. The older I get, the more I hate that place. After some food, a jaunt through Sams and then two crafts stores we were headed back home. If Princess Newbie did not get a nap in the next ten minutes then I would have no other choice than to duct tape her to the wall. Just kidding!
We came home, layed her down, and the older ones and myself worked on a craft project. Princess Newbie woke up just in time to make a huge mess in the paint right before I put it all up. She absolutely loves painting by the way. I got it cleaned up, dinner made, and then was in the process of sprinting out the door to meet a friend when Princess Newbie pulled the guinea pig’s cage over onto herself and all over the floor. I made the choice to leave the dishes on the table but clean up the guinea pig mess before running out the door. Later I found out that my husband gave an interested couple an inpromptu showing with the dirty dishes on the table.
On the way back home I had a piece of candy thrown at me and a fit by a brand new 5 year old. A quick late shower for all the kids and I finally put them in bed, tired… exhausted…. Me, not them. And now I’m chilling, acting all cool, playing some bball outside of school (a little Fresh Prince for all you cool 80’s kids). But I really am laying around, relaxing, and hoping one day my kids realize what I do for them. HA! I should start whispering to them about the upcoming mother’s day.
We did our mother’s day projects today, which I hope to show you part of tomorrow. But until then, here’s a few great ideas by others for mother’s day. You still have time!
This Glass Garden from Messy Mimi is fabulous. It would look great on my kitchen windowsill. wink, wink Damion… wink.
