Because I’m free…
I can run naked through the sprinklers. Not that I have, or would. Children would be traumatized.
I can drive a car. No matter how poorly I might do it, I can do it. Mailboxes be warned.
I can vote. I just wish the rest of the nation would choose the people I tell them to.
I can choose my own husband. Right now I’m not sure I made the right choice. Please tell him to stop licking my arm.
I have to option to receive an education. Without school I would just be clumsy and clueless. wait. I did go? right?
I can clean, cook, and care for my family as I choose. The kids just wish I chose a better way to cook. Black is not their flavor.
I can live without fear of my little girls being married off at an extremely young age. They just need to fear being duct taped to the wall indefinitely during their teen years.
I can speak my mind. Even if some days there is nothing to say.. because there’s no mind.
I can be who I want to be. Child of God, beloved wife, nut-so mom, creative thinker, off my rocker, loved and loving, coffee nut, chikfila supporter, fabric hoarder, sugar addict, friend, and most of all……free.
I’m free. It defines me.
Freedom in Christ, freedom in my nation. Free.
