Reclaiming The Beauty

beautiful Reclaiming The Beauty

The hardest part of being a woman is the self doubt that we all hold at different times. Sometimes it’s a simple glance in the mirror that reveals new gray hair, a new chin or maybe another little bulge and the depression comes rolling in. On days when you should be celebrating this glorious joy that all children of God are given we are wallowing in pity and self hatred.

God created us to be beautiful. We are made in His image and His image is Glorious. So why then do we beat ourselves up on those days. You know the days. The one when everyone is prettier, more successful, and doing it better.

We are crushed by our own thoughts and image issues not because of God but because of the ruler of this world who the bible says has come to steal, kill, and destroy. Satan is the one that beats up our self esteem and then his finger at us and says, “it’s your fault, you are the one that let herself slip.” And we slam ourselves down further and further every single time we accept that lie. Until one day we look at ourselves in the mirror and hate ourself.

If we are made in the image of God and hate ourselves, in a way we are saying we hate the creator that made us. Satan’s work in the lives of women are real. He has come to steal our joy, kill our self confidence and destroy our trust in the Creator.

The truth that cannot be denied is that I will be never a super model. That hope was gone the second I was born into this world with chubby thighs. What I can be is a woman who praises God. If my confidence is in God that I do not have to rely on myself to maintain it. God has given us all gifts that are there for a reason. My personal gift is not gracefulness or athleticism but my gift from God is greater than those things because He is greater than those things. I need to stop looking at the world to give me my identity because I was given my identity before I was even born. God knew me in my mother’s womb and He knew before then who I would be.

So if satan is leading you to believe that you are not worthy, not pretty, too fat, too old, not smart enough, or not amounting to much….. Remind him that he is the one that got kicked out of heaven for not being good enough and you are the one going to heaven for being more than enough. God loves you and He created you to love you. I think that’s more than enough if you ask me.
