Therapy

You can write me a bill if you want because tonight is nothing but a therapy session. I’m going to lay back on the couch and purge the roughness of the past few days.

First it started with Princess Newbie getting so sick last week. Whatever germ she caught stayed with her in the form of croup and then a weird rash for a little over a week. That sounds fun enough right? Well just as she was feeling better on Thursday, Damion started to say that he felt bad. Of course I just chalked it up to allergies, which were bugging me at the same time and went on with my life.

Friday he showed up a little early from work and he was sick. Very sick. But we still had to get up and get the older two girls to their last swim meet for the summer on Saturday morning. He actually had to be there at 6am to help set up. When the girls and I arrived an hour later he looked rough. His eyes were watery and his hair was crazy, kinda a backstreet boy circa 1998 type style. Since he was sick we decided to only enter the girls into their very first race of the day, the 25 yard freestyle, and then go home. This meet was crazier than crazy because it was the district meet and involved all the teams in our area. There were so many people. Princess Goofy’s event was first and she did great, grabbing second place for her heat. Then we took Princess Girly Girl to the ready bench to wait for her race to be called and then a volunteer would take all the swimmers in that event to the starting block. We were waiting right outside the doors to the pool when we saw most of her group go by but not her. I didn’t think anything of it because they swim in heats so I just figured her heat was later. A minute later a volunteer goes running by dragging a little girl behind her saying, “you’re late!”. A few seconds after that another volunteer goes running by with our Princess Girly Girl and another little girl. The volunteers had gotten confused and left a few kids behind. They all missed swimming in their heat, including Princess Girly Girl. It was heartbreaking because it was her last swim of the swim team year. She cried and I think that Damion and I both wanted too. It was a simple mistake but it was sad. After that we all headed back home.

Damion spent Saturday and Sunday comatose on the couch while I picked up the house and battled the swarm of fruit flies that had taken over our house. I had never had a bug issue like we had with the fruit flies this weekend.  There are still piles of dead bugs all over all our shelves because I can’t wipe the bug spray off them yet. I ran out of it and if I wipe it off, it won’t kill the next ones that land on it. Yes, we still have a few stragglers. We had so many that I even tried to suck them up with the vacuum. It didn’t work and they just escaped before I got the vacuum outside to release them.

Damion was supposed to go out of town on Monday but he had to cancel his trip and instead stayed home for one more day. Because I love him and I don’t want him to have to sleep in the gigantic hole that was in the sheet on his side of the bed anymore, I finally went and bought new sheets for the bed in the afternoon. The example at the store was so soft and silky, I was really looking forward to it. But it turns out that once washed the new sheets are composed primarily of little tiny needles. It’s true. It was disappointing and bedtime will be interesting tonight.

Around 5 I started defrosting chicken in the microwave for dinner. At 6 it was still frozen solid. At 7 it was still kinda frozen. I could explain the rest of the chicken dinner story but let’s just say it was a flat out disaster. The rice was crunchy and the chicken is currently on the counter in a crock pot cooking at 10pm (I didn’t plan to cook it in the crockpot at all). Around 8 Damion couldn’t wait for dinner any longer because he needed to go downtown to his office so I scrapped the chicken plans and started on blueberry pancakes instead while he grabbed a sandwich from subway.

Then the fun really began. I got a text message informing me that my grandmother was in the hospital. Then the text message flurry began while I was still cooking the pancakes as to what happened, when and why.  Damion called me in the middle of it to ask if I could meet him on the curb with his bag that he had forgotten and needed to take to his office. I turned off the stove and went outside to give it to him. Of course he had to hug me since he knew I was upset about my grandmother, which of course made me tear up.  He hopped in his car again and took off trying to get to his office before too late. When I was half way up the sidewalk Princess Girly Girl came outside and told me she had thrown up in the living room. But truthfully she looked way too chipper to have just thrown up so I said, “show me”.  Yup… right as you walk in the living room there was throw up. And of course she decided to add to that pile while I was standing there. I’ll spare you the details but the poor girl threw up a lot.

I let her stay up way past her bedtime so I could make sure the throwing up had stopped but every time I tried to walk her upstairs she would just start again and she really wanted to go to her bed. Eventually we made it upstairs and got her in bed.

Now I’m just hoping that she’s the only one that gets this bug, especially while Damion is gone later this week on his rescheduled business trip. I’m also really hoping that we can finally get everyone well so I can get to Ft. Worth to visit my grandma in the hospital.

So sorry if this isn’t my best blog post ever (it’s sooo not). Sorry if it’s rambling and way too long (it totally is). Sorry if you get weirded out by throw up (I do too). But this is how I deal with things.
