Mama is grumpy.
Today was just a blah day. It might have even been a blah-tastic day, I’m not sure.
This morning I just felt rough so I layed around thinking that surely I would feel better later.
Later came and went and I still just felt like a blob of …… well you get the message.
Then Damion sent me a text asking if I wanted to do a family night at the movies tonight and my hopes perked up. Minutes after I thought all the details had been worked out he sent me another text apologizing and saying that he would have to work late.
Never the one to be defeated I decided that if we can’t go have fun at the movies that I would just put on my big girl panties and we could go swimming. About 30 seconds later the thunder started. It never rained, just occasionally thundered and looked gloomy out. The weather fit my mood.
I wound up just renting a movie from Redbox for the girls and one for myself. It was very calm and peaceful but calm and peaceful does not get energy out of little girls that have been cooped up inside almost all day. That would lead to 7 trips up and down the stairs after I put them to bed to remind them not so nicely to get back in their beds and stay there. I don’t know why they think we can’t hear them when they jump off their beds at night when they’re supposed to be asleep (upstairs) but apparently it’s a ton of fun.
A basic run down of today would be: the dog pooped on the carpet, the potty trained peed on the floor X 2, the older two fought, the older two cried, momma was a lump, and the house imploded one chunk at a time.
To make the day worse I thought upstairs was pretty clean since I spent all day Sunday cleaning it. But I forgot about the huge pile of dirty clothes in the playroom, which is in the playroom because the dirty clothes hamper upstairs is full and spilling over. Then tonight I noticed another large pile at the end of Princess Goofy’s bed. There are probably 10 loads of laundry upstairs. It’s a wonder that my kids have any clothes left to wear. I was defeated after seeing that.
So I plopped down on the couch with my laptop and pulled up Pinterest. Somehow God knew what I needed to see tonight because I saw this poster from Three Little Monkeys and it was just perfect.
One day… I’m gonna miss this. One day I’m going to miss the pride that flows across the potty trainer’s face each time she’s victorious. I’m going to miss hearing the thuds and thumps that come from upstairs when they’re supposed to be sleeping. One day I’m going to miss the drama filled tears and the heated arguments over what dress their doll is going to wear. One day this house will be quiet and it will only be me and Mr. Byrd to entertain ourselves. That thought is kinda sad.
To add onto that thought, today I found out that a friend lost her one year old child yesterday. It’s so easy to gripe about the little things around here that my kids do and let them defeat me but the bottom line is that they are still here with me. They might drive me crazy but let’s face it, I was already there. I can’t imagine my life without them and I’m blessed not to have to live without them.
If you love that laundry graphic as much as I do, head over to Three Little Monkeys Studio because she is giving it away as a free printable! Isn’t that awesome?
