Just A Bit Of Bizness

Takin’ Care of Business! Everyday!

You have that song in your head now don’t you? You’re welcome.

 Just A Bit Of Bizness

Yesterday didn’t really go my way. I woke up and had planned to take the girls to the Library to get their own library cards. Turns out the library here is closed on Wednesdays (I don’t know why either). So we wound up watching Spy Kids. In the afternoon I had planned to take them to one last full day at the pool before our neighborhood pool closed on weekdays for the summer. The pool’s last day to be open on weekdays was Tuesday. Mom fail.  So instead I told them that we could run to McDonald’s for lunch and then play in the sprinklers. Well we were all in our bathing suits so we just did drive thru. We got all the way home and sitting down at the table before Princess Goofy said, “where’s my food?”. We had to all pile back in the van and go back to pick up the meal they had forgotten to give us.

We finally got back home and ate lunch while I was fighting a pounding headache.  It was so bad that I had to ask the kids not to talk which is an impossibility for two of our children. I took some medicine and glared at the wall until it subsided enough for me to function. The girls still wanted to play in the sprinklers but they didn’t want to play in the sprinklers in the long grass and it was so long that I can understand. So I decided to mow really quick and then they could play.

Of course while I was mowing a little snake darted across my path. Now here’s the deal, I’m terrified of snakes. When we were first married Mr. Byrd chased me around the yard with a little 6 inch snake which caused a huge fight between us. Now he knows, don’t even tell me that he might have seen one. But the truth is that I hate being that terrified of them. I see my kids starting to act afraid of snakes because of my fear. So I have been working towards overcoming my fear. Plus we now live in the woods and I know that I’ll be seeing a lot more snakes than when we lived more in the concrete jungle.  It was just a little foot long garden snake but I knew I needed to kill it to prove to myself I could do it without freaking out. Yes I screamed first and did a little dance like it was on my feet but then I called for one of the girls to bring me a shovel and I killed it. No, I don’t feel bad about killing a helpless snake because it was something I needed to do to prove to myself that one day I could kill a dangerous snake. It’s baby steps people. Scaley yucky baby steps.

After that I finished mowing the grass at a snail’s pace because I was sure there were more snakes hiding in the grass. Finally on the last strip of grass dark clouds appeared and it started to rain. The girls are still mad at me that they didn’t get to play in the sprinklers. But you did get to play with a dead snake! hello! What could be more fun? (sarcasm).

One bath for a potty training accident (not mine) later and Mr. Byrd called to say he was on his way home. Basically nothing had worked out as planned, nothing.

However last night I did redesign my Facebook Fan Page.

See right there at the top right corner of the blog? There’s now an added RSS feed button and Pinterest button. I never finished working on that part of the page when I changed my site um…9 months ago. I totally forgot (shocking, I know). So now I’ve added it. I also have an email subscription available but I don’t have a button for that. If you would like an email subscription just fill in the form below.
