Hold me.
She’s three today. I’m tearing up already. Four sentences in and I’m a blubbering mess.
She’s our baby, the littlest Byrd.
You think after two that you pretty much have this parenting thing down and then God throws this beautiful wrench into your family.
Princess Newbie is lively. She brings a life to this house that I would never want to live without.
She laughs, giggles, runs, dances, jumps, and begs you to tickle her all day long. Lately she has begun to role play with her toys. The little ponies and barbies occasionally have tea.
Last night she prayed for our dinner for the first time. We guided her in, “thank you for our food and bless our bodies” and then she finished with “ba do cha na na MY BIRTHDAY! ya ya, AMEN!” Life and joy, she has it.
She’s also the fiesty one. Time out is nothing to her, just another wall to hit. Shoes often get kicked off and thrown. Those little arms get folded across the body as her little lips yell out, “no! I don’t want to!”. Yes, she’s a fighter and part of me loves it. If she learns how to channel that fight into the right things, she will be a power house.
But forever she will be my baby, even if she’s 3.
Happy Birthday Princess Newbie. You are simply amazing.
