The pool has been calling my name. It is hot in Houston, oh so hot. Everyday I walk the girls to swim practice and the other moms and myself try to plan ways to “accidentally” fall in the pool so we can cool off. We do have one good scenario planned where one would pretend to have low blood sugar and would accidentally stagger into the pool, pulling the rest of us who were helping her into the pool as well. However I really hate winter and cold so I’m trying not to complain too much about the heat.
The girls are doing great on swim team but one is doing much better than the other. The one that’s not doing so well is ready to give up and it’s been hard to encourage her to continue. The one that is doing really well got invited to an invitational meet Sunday night. It’s at a cramped high school and I was looking forward to leaving right after her race, since it’s one of the first ones. Then I found out tonight that the coaches put her on one of the last relay races as well. Looks like the parents will be bonding and singing Kumbaya.
I have become obsessed with Mint Green Tea from Sonic. So much so that I might have an idea to bathe in it. It’s so light and yummy, the perfect summer drink. The girls discovered watermelon lemonade from Sonic the other day and it was yummy too. I’m challenging them to try crazy drink mixes this summer, they’re on the fence about it. I really think that if you need a new drink from Sonic you should try the Mint Green Tea and they did not pay me to say that! Although I will take payment of free Mint Green Tea’s for life.
One tidbit about me that you probably don’t know is that I’m obsessed with pencils and songs of the 90’s. They both just make me happy. I always have a pencil and Ice, Ice Baby is always playing on repeat in my mind. It’s scary, I know. But then you make an amazing graphic like the one below that I made for Blog Elevated and it all just seems to make sense.
We made it to my favorite store, Trader Joe’s. I just love everything they have (except the dried seaweed -eww). We loaded up with our favorites such as Trader Joe’s Yogurt, inexpensive Olive Oil, Graham Crackers and plenty of fruit and veggies. We also grabbed a few of their new items such as gluten free Jo Jo’s! They really have an amazing section of Gluten Free items, I might post about it soon. If you love Cookie Butter from Trader Joe’s than you might like my Cookie Butter S’mores or Cookie Butter Granola Smoothie from The Grant Life. Or you can just eat the Cookie Butter straight from the Jar and we won’t judge you. If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s nearby to get Cookie Butter, here’s a recipe for Cinnamon Smore’s Bars from my friend, Moms Confession so you won’t be
skinnier than any of us left out.
I made a new Summer Pinterest board because I am that excited about Summer! I don’t know why I’m so excited this year? Maybe because they kids are finally at the age where we can really enjoy it and have fun? Are you excited about Summer? Why or why not? Leave me your thoughts in the comments below.
