Sorry posting has been lacking lately. I’ve been up to a few things and I’m also a huge procrastinator. I’ve had two projects done for awhile now and I just keep forgetting to take pictures of the finished project. I remember each day around 5pm to take a picture but by that time it’s too dark at our house to get a decent picture.
I’m ditzy and I’m not afraid to admit it.
I wrote about it a few months ago but I’m a co-founder of Blog Elevated Conference for bloggers, which is in 6 weeks.
We have been busy. When I’m not doing stuff with the kids, cooking dinner or folding the mountains of laundry that inhabit my living room, I’ve been working on Blog Elevated or BE as we call it to save our fingers from having to type one more stroke during the day.
I’m passionate about Blog Elevated. Three years ago I walked into a Houston Bloggers meeting without knowing anyone and found a community that just absorbed me into them and let me ask any question I needed to ask as I learned my way into blogging. Three years ago this blog was a scary place, full of poor content and horrible pictures. But now it’s growing into something I’m proud of and I couldn’t have done it without my blog friends that supported me and educated me on the how’s to and legal side of blogging.
That’s why I’m passionate about BE. I want to turn around and give that same support, education and community to other bloggers. The number one way that I can do that is by reaching out to other bloggers beyond Houston. I help with #TXBloggers and our weekly twitter chats, which are awesome but at the end of the day I still wanted to go further and help more. I want to let bloggers know how lovely and awe inspiring they are to me. Laying your life out in public to sometimes be mocked and ridiculed is hard and it takes guts to do it every single day.
So the past few months I’ve been trying to form Blog Elevated into a conference that I can be proud of for what it gives to other bloggers.
That’s why things have been slow around here. And why I’m forgetting to take pictures because working until 1am every night just to get stuff done and still have time to be a full time mom and wife is hard. But I know without a doubt that it’s going to be amazing.
If you want to check out BE you can do that at BlogElevated.com. We have some amazing speakers coming. One of those is Karen Walrond, also known as Chookooloonks who wrote this blog post, unwoven light and you are enough, that spoke to my soul as a blogger as I try to find my identity and nice. For some reason “crafter who can’t get her act together and slips on mysterious puddles of fluid in her home” isn’t considered a blogging niche (category). Another big keynote speaker for us is John Saddington who gave his insights on Professional Blogging to FounderTips awhile back and it was all so true and gave me motivation to just keep going.
There’s even more simply amazing speakers that you need to head over to BlogElevated.com to check out!
Lastly, If you are a blogger and you want to come but you just can’t figure out the finances, check out this scholarship. You might just be the one that walks away with a free pass to Blog Elevated.
Thank you to all of you who read here daily, email me encouraging words and leave supportive comments. I really value you and you are what give me the guts to lay my life out in public.
If you’re a blogger I really hope you’ll consider attending Blog Elevated Conference to form the education backed community like I have been blessed with.
