Gingerbread Sugar Scrub

Gingerbread Sugar Scrub a great last minute gift idea 1024x777 Gingerbread Sugar Scrub

There’s one thing that’s certain in the world – the second you think you have all the christmas shopping done BAM! you realize you’ve forgotten a gift.  So a few days before Christmas let me give you the gift of the easiest last minute homemade gift you’ll ever find – sugar scrubs.

If you have a bowl and a spoon, you can do this. Most likely you can even do it with supplies you already have in your kitchen.

This week I was swamped. I knew Mr. Byrd’s parents were coming and I wanted to get some painting done at the house on top of christmas shopping and preparations.  But all that was sidelined when I got sick on Thursday and didn’t leave the couch the entire day.  Because I was a total blob on the couch all day Thursday, friday was packed.  Not only did I have to clean the house after letting the three girls have unsupervised access to it the entire day on Thursday but I had to get ready for overnight guests. Then the door bell rang and our sweet neighbors dropped of gifts to us for christmas.  This is the part of the day where I wanted to bang my head on the wall because I had forgotten about neighbor gifts! Agh!

So that’s when I pulled out the supplies to make Gingerbread Spice Sugar Scrub and set to work. Honestly I thought it would take me 15-20 minutes but I was amazed that it took under 5 minutes. All it took was brown sugar, oats, oil and a few yummy smelling spices and I had a sugar scrub that left your skin smelling and looking divine. It was a win win situation.

This is also the perfect gift for kids to make. You can work together to learn measuring skills in the kitchen with no heat or knives involved! Let them make this themselves and then deliver it to their teachers as an encouraging gift when school resumes in January.

I purchased the glass jars at Hobby Lobby when their glassware was on sale for approximately $1.50 each. Then I added a wooden craft spoon, also found at Hobby Lobby that I etched with my wood burning tool. If you don’t have a wood burning tool you should get one because they’re fun. In the meantime you could use a fine tip permanent marker.

All together this gift would come in at under 5 minutes to make and under $5 per gift. You can’t beat that deal!

Imperial Sugar has a lot of different sugar scrub recipes listed on their site if Gingerbread Spice isn’t your flavor of choice including Pink Grapefruit, Peppermint Swirl, Coconut Lime, Chocolate Sugar Lip Scrub and many more.  They also have printable labels for your gifts or you can grab these whimsical free printable christmas labels.

Don’t think that you have to buy gifts just because it’s late in the game. You still have time to make easy sugar scrubs!

If you already have all your gifts finished, pin this as a great idea for next year!

  1. Girl. Where were you with this post back in December when I made a pitiful lemon-sage coconut oil sugar scrub? It turned out awfuly strange-smelling. I’m sure my poor cousin ended up throwing it out to keep the jar. LOL
