Painting With a Twist!
I have a new addiction.
Painting with a Twist. Have you been?
If you’re not sure what that is – let me take a minute and explain.
You know how most of us dream of just whipping out a canvas and painting a show stopping masterpiece? So you go to hobby lobby, load up on all the different shades of paint and a few random brushes and come home to paint your masterpiece!
And when you’re finished it looks more like an elephant painted it using his trunk, a stick and a mixture of mud and other brown stuff? Yeah. That.
If that’s ever happened to you than you need to get your tail to the nearest Painting with a Twist.
You see- they walk you through step by step using a few basic colors and 3 paintbrushes until you actually have a masterpiece.
But it gets better because it’s not like a boring painting lesson. It’s more like a party where a little paint might get slung. Did I mention it involves wine? It does. Which kinda helps take off the edge of trying to create something perfect and just lets you relax and have fun.
There’s also friends and they’re all working on the same painting in the same steps as you. Which kinda helps when you have to lean over and apologize for accidentally washing out your brush in your neighbors wine glass or to ask if they think your bluebonnet looks more like a pinecone.
So how did I do?
And in the end it looked like this –
This was our instructor Ben and he was amazing. He was lively and helpful. Plus he had a great sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to let it out. If you’re in the North Houston area, take a Painting with a Twist class from him!
So what did I really think of it?
It was perfect.
Making things just makes me happy. That’s why I’m a crafter. As much as I want to be a painter, it just wasn’t in the cards for me. I paint my shoes, hair and face often (but never on purpose) however it’s hard to get it on canvas the way I want it.
That’s why I was in heaven at Painting with a Twist.
It was just the guidance I needed to make something I’m proud of and have a lot of fun at the same time. They give you creativity without too much thinking involved.
After a few stressful weeks planning Blog Elevated Conference – I needed this. I really needed a night to relax and just paint.
It would be the perfect thing to do with a group of friends or even your spouse as a date! (Mr. Byrd you can run but you can’t hide – it’s gonna happen.) You don’t even have to be crafty or artistic to do it! The owner told us that she failed art class in school!
Do I recommend it? Yes. I also accept invitations to go paint with you. I’ll even let you pay.
Thanks to Painting with a Twist for an amazing night out with my #HoustonBlogger friends!
