Pumpkins are magical. There’s just something about them that makes you want to dance in the falling leaves and sip hot apple cider. Maybe it’s just me but I love them. This easy fall treat recipe combines the best of both worlds – chocolate covered pretzels and mallowcreme pumpkins. That’s why you’ll love this easy chocolate covered pretzel recipe.
I love candy corn and all the fun candies that show up each fall like mallowcreme pumpkins. Add mallowcreme pumpkins to candy coating and salty pretzels and it’s a girls dream come true! If you happen to call them wands than it’s any little girl’s (or boy’s for the Harry Potter fans) dream come true.
This is a very simple project that will give you great results. Let’s just say that if you’re the type that burns everything, like I do, than this is something you can do.
First gather your supplies – Parchment paper, pretzel rods, holiday sprinkles, a medium sized glass bowl and a cooling rack. I also chose to use vanilla candy coating rather than white chocolate chips because it’s a little easier to use. You can use either and it will look and taste the same but I recommend the candy coating.
To start melt your candy coating according to the package directions. Stir it well until it is very smooth.
Using a spoon, coat the pretzel rod 3/4’s of the way with white chocolate or candy coating. It will look lumpy and rough, that’s ok.
To get a smoother appearance, just lightly tap the pretzel rod on the side of your bowl and the excess candy coating will fall off.
Place the pretzel rods on the cooling rack with parchment paper underneath it so that the excess chocolate will continue to drip off. You do not want to leave them on there for too long – 5 to 10 minutes max. If you leave them too long the chocolate will stick to the cooling rack and you’ll break the pretzel rods when you pick them up.
When the candy coating or chocolate is still damp and not all the way hardened lightly cover the candy coating with sprinkles on all sides.
After you add the sprinkles lay it directly on the parchment paper to finish hardening.
Pretty and yummy. You could use them just like that and they would be a hit.
But we’re not just here for the hits are we? We need to be superstars.
I heard a rumor that adding pumpkins will make you a star. Pretty sure George Clooney told me that.
So let’s add a pumpkin to these babies!
Dip the end of the pretzel back into the candy coating or chocolate. You don’t need a lot, just dip the tip.
Then add the pumpkin to the tip and gently lay it down on the parchment paper to set. If you look you’ll see that I used the sprinkle containers to hold some of the pumpkins in place that were trying to roll away.
Leave them alone until they are totally dry. The candy coating does not take long to dry, only a few minutes, but melted chocolate will take at least an hour.
There you go – yummy, easy, and fun!
