This is a great project because it’s perfect for adults or kids to make. If you eat cereal or have friends that are cereal lovers, this is a great craft to make by yourself or in a group. These DIY cereal box notebooks are easy and fun.
This week we’ll be making them at Vacation Bible School.
So what do you need to make these simple notebooks for yourself?
The good news is that you can make two notebooks with one cereal box. You’ll also need blank copy paper, floss or baker’s twine, a sewing needle and scissors.
Start by cutting of the sides, tops and bottoms of the cereal box. This will leave you with two large rectangles of cardboard. Each rectangle will make one notebook.
Fold each rectangle in half with the edges lined up as shown above.
Cut the copy paper down to fit inside of cardboard. The paper needs to be slightly smaller than the actual cardboard rectangle. Fold it shut to make sure that it fits and all the edges look neat before going to the next step.
Next you ignore all the wrinkles on my wrist and use a need to make two pilot holes on the spine of the notebook. I put one hole about an inch and a half from the top and from the bottom.
Thread floss or baker’s twine onto your needle and simply thread it through one hole and around to the other several times. Tie a small knot to join the thread together into one big loop and cut off any edges.
If you are doing this with kids you can also simple staple the middle of the book to hold it all together.
That’s it! Now you have a simple easy DIY notebook!
The best part is that it’s also a blank slate. Leave it how it is or you can decorate it and have fun.
I decided to splatter paint one of the notebooks.
It turned out so cute!
Adults could cover each side with decorative scrapbooking paper and kids could use stamps and stickers to decorate their notebooks.
This really is a great project that can give you great results and tons of fun.
Are you going to try to make your own simple DIY cereal box notebooks?
