Popcorn Cake Recipe

Popcorn Cake from Clumsy Crafter

Popcorn cake is just plain fun but not only is it fun, it's a great cake for children with allergies to gluten, eggs (if the marshmallows are made of meringue such as commercial marshmallows), and dairy. This popcorn cake recipe is a great tool to keep in your rockstar mom toolbox. My mom used to make this for us when we were growing up and it ranked in my top three cakes just because it's so unexpected. Children love it because it has marshmallows, M&M's and popcorn. How much better can it get? Well for parents in this modern age, it does get better because this is a cake that is … [Read more...]

Peppermint Swirl Cake Technique

Peppermint swirl cake technique

Sometimes one of my favorite things is a cake that is simple on the outside and stunning on the inside. Making a pretty peppermint pattern on the inside of the cake is easy using a simple technique for pouring batter. This technique will leave you with a gorgeous christmas cake that will get the neighbors talking. First you need to make a double recipe of white cake. Use whatever recipe you like, even two box mixes which is perfectly fine. My favorite white cake recipe is the WASP cake (white almond sour cream) but if you make that one you will not need to double it as it is a very large … [Read more...]

Fall In The South - Best Recipes From Houston Area Bloggers

The other day I asked a few of my blogger friends here in Houston to submit a few of their favorite fall recipes to me so I could share them with y'all. They sent me some amazing southern recipes. What I learned is two things. 1. I'm starving. 2. I am a really bad and uncreative cook compared to these guys! I want to live with them, all of them.  You will too. Cocoa-Nut Trail Mix Recipe

Lately I think everyone in our home is going through a growth spurt. All I hear each and every day are the words, "I'm hungry". Well except for the resident three year old whom says, "I'm hungwy Mama, I'm hungwy!". After spending more and more time in the kitchen looking for quick snacks after they've already had an apple, pear, and carrot each I finally decided to make some trail mix. It's a great easy trail mix with a touch a cocoa, a bit of sweetness, and using a healthier coconut oil.  It's not the healthiest trail mix out there (by far!) but it's a great snack to store in the pantry and … [Read more...]

Christmas Crack Recipe

christmascrackrecipe

The name of this recipe makes it sound sketchy but trust me, it is heavenly. I love Christmas Crack for three reasons. 1) It's Yummy.  2) It's the easiest dessert that I've ever made.  3) You kinda feel gangsta. So what is Christmas Crack? It's a super simple dessert that has a toffee layer on bottom covered in chocolate with optional toppings. Why is it named Christmas Crack? I'm guessing it's because it is super addictive but I didn't name it so don't blame me. To make it you will need;              1 cup of butter             3/4 cup brown sugar         … [Read more...]
