Valentine’s Wreath

Valentine's Day Wreath Tutorial

I love this Wreath. It was not what I started out to make. In my head I had a wreath full of nothing but chalkboard hearts. Wouldn't that have been amazing? The problem was that my head thinks in the big dollar signs and I shop in the little teeny tiny ones. A ton of wooden hearts would have been either a lot of cutting with the jigsaw or paying out the wazoo for some from the craft store. So as I circled the store for the fourth time with the kids dragging behind doing their usual craft store chant, "when are we going to leave?", I spotted this beautiful red and gingham ribbon in the … [Read more...]

Boring Shoe Redo

glittershoes

Last year Damion bought me sparkly silver converse shoes for our anniversary. It's all I wanted since I have a love of fun, funky shoes. They were great for a year but then they got dirty and dull. All the sparkle and shine had went away, it was kinda sad. So I decided to redo them. Do you have any old lifeless shoes that you want to make shine like the top of the empire state building. (name that movie) I've also fixed the girls glitter shoes sold at target the same way when the girls wear a spot bald. First you'll need Mod Podge and glitter. I used the really fine Martha … [Read more...]

Recycled Gift Bag Revisited

Here is another old project that was posted about this time last year. It's a gift bag made from recycled Capri Sun pouches. I'm still working on my project so I hope you're enjoying these older crafts that you might have missed. Recycled Gift Bag: Sometimes I hate seeing how much trash we have as a family of five. There are often days that we use an entire trash bag in one day. Lately I'm trying to throw less away. I'm saving anything glass and trying to at least let my girls play and destroy with anything cardboard. Now if I could just figure out what to do with those pesky CapriSun … [Read more...]

Oh Christmas Balls, Oh Christmas Balls… how I love great deals!

I was standing in line at Hobby Lobby and overheard the woman in front of me talking about the fall 90% off section. 90%!!! So I politely asked where this section is and headed off to find it. It was a small section, just some paper plates and napkins and tons of fall flowers. I did pick up a ton of napkins for only 59 cents but then I couldn't figure out what I could do with all these fall flowers when it was christmas time. I looked at it for a few minutes before I figured that I could make big fluffy snow balls with the white flowers but I couldn't pass up the red ones either. I grabbed … [Read more...]

Monkey Shirt

dec08_013

Princess Goofy loves monkeys. I found her sister the perfect dress for thanksgiving at the resale shop but I couldn't find a dress for Princess Goofy. We finally found her a brown skirt that would match her sister's outfit but couldn't find a top for her that would fit her personality. So I knew immediately what I could do.... a MONKEY applique. Because of time constraints, I just used some regular felt that I had here at the house. It worked great! All you have to do is cut out the shapes that you want and sew them down! No turning down edges, no interfacing.. nothing... Monkeys are basic … [Read more...]
