Boring Shoe Redo

Last year Damion bought me sparkly silver converse shoes for our anniversary. It's all I wanted since I have a love of fun, funky shoes. They were great for a year but then they got dirty and dull. All the sparkle and shine had went away, it was kinda sad. So I decided to redo them. Do you have any old lifeless shoes that you want to make shine like the top of the empire state building. (name that movie) I've also fixed the girls glitter shoes sold at target the same way when the girls wear a spot bald. First you'll need Mod Podge and glitter. I used the really fine Martha … [Read more...]

Peg Doll Home Sweet Home

This year for Christmas I decided to give my four year old niece peg dolls. It's a cute gift that's great for her age and even better to entertain her while her mama takes care of their new baby.  You can find my Peg Doll Tutorial Here. Then while I was walking through a thrift store I saw a wooden cigar box for 50 cents. Wow.  Pin balls started bouncing back and forth in my brain and before I knew it, I had the perfect Christmas gift for her. I used Mod Podge to cover the cigar label on the front of the box with a cute design and then added a handle simply using my hot glue gun. The … [Read more...]

Recycled Gift Bag Revisited

Here is another old project that was posted about this time last year. It's a gift bag made from recycled Capri Sun pouches. I'm still working on my project so I hope you're enjoying these older crafts that you might have missed. Recycled Gift Bag: Sometimes I hate seeing how much trash we have as a family of five. There are often days that we use an entire trash bag in one day. Lately I'm trying to throw less away. I'm saving anything glass and trying to at least let my girls play and destroy with anything cardboard. Now if I could just figure out what to do with those pesky CapriSun … [Read more...]

She’s a Big Girl Now.

The time has finally come for us that Princess Newbie is done with her baby highchair. She kept climbing out of it (and in it). So it was no longer safe to have around, as it was. We asked our parents to get her a booster chair for Christmas but they all kinda balked at it. You could tell they had toys in mind for her gifts, not a booster seat. This is the chair before:   This is the chair I picked out when I was pregnant with Princess Girly Girl, six years ago. I knew I wanted a wood chair so it would last through all my kids and hopefully be saved forever. That's the … [Read more...]

Perfect Christmas Gift: Edible Coal

DSC_0317 copy

I think this is one of my favorite ideas of all time but the pictures don't really show the glory of it, so be warned and use your imagination. My neighbors have had a bad week. They had to put their dog to sleep in the middle of the night, only to find out the next day that the landlord is putting their house up for sale and they have to find somewhere else to live. That is a rough week to me. They also have a good sense of humor and a slightly darker side than I do so I knew they would get a kick out of this gift. What gift you ask? A bag of coal.. a yummy yummy bag of coal.  Here's … [Read more...]
