My family loves Disney. We were working on collecting all the Disney movies on DVD before our van was broken into this spring and all our movies were stolen. Then we had hoped to go to Disney World this year but we bought a new house instead, which was 100% worth it! So now we're clinging to what we have left of Disney. This morning the girls and I woke up extremely early (some happier than others) and drove an hour in traffic across town to be at the opening of the brand new Disney store in the Houston Galleria.  It was awesome. You know it has to be amazing if I woke up at 6:45 to go and … [Read more...]

For the Love of Houston

houstondowntown

There was a time that I hated Houston. Hated driving in the traffic and seeing the graffiti. I hated the fact that we had no family in Houston. But little by little and more and more each year I'm starting to love it. It's beautiful but a different type of beauty. No lush green fields full of sunflowers but plenty of art and architecture. So many different people, roads that somehow all fit together, and buildings so tall they sway in the wind while all the time standing firm are amazing.   Slowly but surely I'm coming to love this … [Read more...]

Let Us Remember

Yesterday we took the girls to the Bear Creek Park War Memorial here in Houston.   We talked to them for a few minutes about what it meant and why it was there. Do they truly understand? No.  But I don't think anyone truly understands except those brave men and women who have fought and served..... and given their lives for our freedom. .... and their freedom.... If you have served, thank you for giving my kids their freedom. If you have a family member serving or that you have lost... thank you for making a sacrifice for those three girls that I love so so … [Read more...]

God Bless Texas

Thursday was a travel day.  After a short detour to downtown and an even shorter longer detour getting lost downtown looking for the right freeway, I was headed north to the great land of Dallas- Fort Worth metroplex.  I have a few days with family planned before I have to head back to Houston. I did come without Damion though so if you plan on robbing our house, don't. He's strong and there's a metal cross made from railroad spikes hidden for intruders. The Power of Christ compels you might compel you just a little too strongly, if you know what I mean. I moved to Houston seven years ago … [Read more...]

City Hall Farmer’s Market

DSC_0961 copy

Today the girls and I packed up in the van and headed downtown to the City Hall Farmer's Market. We went the first week it was open and there was a lot of stands selling fruits and vegetables among other crazy grocery items. We went again today after it has been open for awhile and it was mainly food vendors with only two small grocery booths other than eggs and goats milk.  Even though we had fun it was a little disappointing. They also had a "petting zoo". Obviously the city folk planned the "petting zoo" because it was 3 small goats and baby chicks. Anyone from the real country know that … [Read more...]
