1am and a Thud
It’s 1am.
That admission should automatically excuse me from all bad grammar and rampant nonsense in this post.
Today the weather was gorgeous! It was like the fall that we never get in Houston mixed with the gentle winds of spring, which only hangs around for a week or two. You can say what you want about Houston but winter here is amazing.
Because of the glorious weather, which is supposed to end sometime tonight (this morning?) I decided to let the kids play outside today for hours. They had the best time. Part of the morning was spent throwing a basketball into an impromptu basketball hoop, otherwise known as an empty garbage can. There were scooter races in the driveway and then they decided to move things into the backyard. Somehow the bamboo poles that once held a teepee were re-erected in the yard which is impressive since they are three times as high as the children. It was lovely. There was laughing, running and jumping until there was a loud thud followed by sobbing.
Our deck has two trees in the middle that make two shallow holes in the deck that are surrounded by a really low rail. Princess Newbie was walking around the rail and somehow fell into one of the holes. She’s ok but she did get her first black eye. One family member asked if the deck survived because her hard head is legendary.
Fast forward to one child that can never get dressed in even a remotely timely manner and a rush job to get the house picked up and we were out the door to pick up Mr. Byrd at work. We had a great family night together and got home late. The girls bedtime had already come and gone when we pulled into the driveway after first missing our street and having to turn around and try again (I’m an airhead).
So why am I still writing this at 1am? Because by the time I got the girls to bed and sat down to write a regular blog post, a few messages from friends were waiting to me about a website that was ripping off blogger content, mine included. Agh. It’s such a headache to a blogger when this happens. It is a big deal because it’s illegal and while bloggers provide (hopefully) great posts for you to read for free, we do try to be compensated for our time through the ads on our sites. In this case, the people stealing my content had replaced my ads with their ads on a site that looked exactly like this site but it is not Clumsy Crafter. It’s sad.
Then while I was trying to find more info about how to stop this, I found another site that was using my pictures without asking for their own gain.
So I set up camp on the couch and have spent hours dealing with this. I glanced up to find that it was 12:45. Then I glanced to the right and saw one hungry looking furry face and looking to the left revealed another. I had forgotten to feed the dogs which reminded me that I also forgot to feed the cat and guinea pig.
So that is why it’s 1am and this blog post doesn’t make sense. It’s a round about circle of craziness topped with hungry dogs and first black eyes. So I sit here and write while waiting on the dogs to eat so I can go to bed.
Sometimes 1am just happens. I’m waiting for the day that the spa will just happen.
