Super Heroes Vs. Plastic Roaches
Oh it’s been a crazy past few days.
The short version is a secret project met some super heroes and a fairy princess and they had a wonderful tea party with plastic roaches.
It’s crazy I told you.
Last week Mr. Byrd was gone on a business trip which sent me into a tailspin to finish a secret project before he got home. I can’t tell you what the secret project was yet, you’ll find out soon, but I only had a few days to paint our master bathroom and bedroom. I had planned it all out in my head that Monday I would prepare both rooms. Tuesday I would paint our room and Wednesday I would paint our bathroom and Thursday and Friday I could lay on the couch and eat bon bons.
That did not happen.
Tuesday and Wednesday we had other things come up and I wasn’t able to do anything. Plus the bathroom took two and a half days to paint because of all the woodwork that you had to paint around. I love having crown molding but I don’t see the point in having it in a tiny water closet where you can barely get a ladder or step stool into. Plus there’s crown molding way behind two different sets of tall cabinets where I couldn’t get a ladder so I had to tape a paint brush onto a pole to reach.
Saturday I was still working on painting the bathroom but I had to pause that morning to make some quick costumes for a halloween themed birthday party that the girls were invited to.
Somehow the nozzle on the spray adhesive (the best one I’ve ever found) got stuck on the spray setting. I covered it with my hand and went running to the sink until I could get it undone. Which means that for awhile I had my own super hero powers where I didn’t actually have to hold anything, it just stuck to my hand.
Here’s a tip: If you ever get your hand glued to something you can use paint thinner to get it unstuck.
It was worth it because the first part of the costumes turned out cute. I still have a few more details to add at a later date.
The party they went to was amazing. I could have done a blog post just on that party but I’m horribly shy in when I’m surrounded by a lot of people so I didn’t take many pictures. They had “Pin the Face on the Jack-O-Lantern” using a magnetic board (the picture below), pumpkin bowling and digging in the sand for buried treasure.
Also the lady helping the youngest Byrd with the game had an adult version of the Flower Pot Costume. It was great. Once again, I should have asked for a picture!
I’m a bad blogger but we already knew that.
Apparently the party got the girls into a halloween party mood because the next day while I was working in my bedroom, they made a halloween tea party.
While I’m not thrilled that they didn’t ask, I am beaming with pride at their creativity.
They rocked it.
There was plastic lizards on the drink glasses, baby carrots with green ranch dressing, a blue punch they made (I don’t know what is in it), salad, and granola bars cut up with bananas topped with peanut butter and plastic bugs for effect.
Last week was crazy and rushed and this week isn’t looking any calmer. But with the holidays kicking off in a few more days, this might actually be as calm as it gets.
Happy Monday friends, I hope you get to lay on the couch and eat bon bons. Or in the worst case scenario for Monday, I hope all your kids get in the car to go to school with all of their shoes.
