Today isn’t about being good. It’s about being baaad. It’s about enjoying life and the chocolate that’s in it.
Most importantly it’s about the simplest but fanciest chocolate recipe you’ll ever own.
If you’ve never made chocolate bark than you’re missing out. It is the easiest candy that you can make. Chocolate bark is just melted chocolate with ingredients added and before it’s allowed to harden again.
Yes any chocolate bark recipe is good. But what if you add in caramel popcorn and nuts that make it an imitation Moose Munch chocolate bark recipe?
It’s glorious friends. It’s beautiful and tastes delicious.
So let’s make it.
If you want to get fancy, use expensive chocolate. But I didn’t want fancy – I wanted simple and trusted. So I started with milk chocolate candy coating and white chocolate candy coating, also known as almond bark.
Why? Because sometimes fancy chocolate can be tempermental. It’s easy to mess up. Chocolate candy coating is really hard to mess up.
The only thing that will make you mess this up is adding any moisture or liquid to it at all. Make sure all of your utensils and bowls are thoroughly dry and do not add liquid food coloring or it will get clumpy.
Plus the candy coating gives you more and costs less. It’s a win in my book.
I started with 1lb of milk chocolate flavored candy coating and about 1/4 lb of white candy coating.
Melt both chocolates and line a 8X8 pan with wax paper.
Roughly chop 1/4 cup of almonds and dump them directly into the milk chocolate candy coating.
Add about 1-2 cups of caramel popcorn to the chocolate candy coating, more or less to taste. I just eyeball it.
I used this 479 Toasted Coconut Caramel popcorn I found at Kroger (find it on Amazon.com here) in lieu of just plain caramel popcorn. It was heavenly. Try it! But if all you can find is caramel popcorn, that should be amazing as well!
Pour the melted milk chocolate candy coating, nuts and popcorn mix in the pan. If you do this while holding a camera, you might pour it over the edge and make a big mess, not that I would know.
Take your melted white chocolate and drops spoonfuls of it on top. Using your spoon or spatula, swirl the white chocolate into the milk chocolate mixture.
Don’t over mix, just gently swirl.
Yum. Just ignore that huge mess hiding behind the wax paper.
Now it gets easier.
Just pop the whole pan into the refrigerator for a few minutes until it is set. Did I say a few minutes? Yes. You’ll be amazed. If you use fancy chocolate, it will take longer to set.
When it has fully hardened, pull it out of the pan and dump it on a cutting board. Now you’re just going to use a big knife and some muscle power to cut it into smaller sizes.
Then you’re going to wind up with this:
Don’t worry – no one saw you wipe that drool off your keyboard.
It’s sooo good. It’s so good you’re going to want to be bad and eat it all.
