By the way, I used to work in a child care center and found that baking soda, white vinegar, toothpaste, and shaving cream with cold water (each used seperately) have all worked in getting food coloring off skin. Sometimes one worked better for one child than it did for another. Maybe one of those would work for you? It might be worth a try!
Gojo. Fast Orange. One of those type of orange oil based scrubby soaps. Apply it dry, then rinse. Works for food coloring, stamping inks, and sharpie markers. At least those have been the tests so far.
Why do I know this? We have so been there, done that, just recently. *sighs* Thank goodness she was in a diaper, or her clothes would have been wrecked play clothes for life.
If you had gone out to eat, you would have gotten looks, but people would have understood why you would not have wanted to stay home to cook. There is always order in, though.
