First one of the most popular questions I get – What sewing machine should I buy for a beginner?
This is the sewing machine that I really cut my teeth on. My grandmother taught me how to sew on her old Singer and it was a great machine. But years later when I wanted a machine to start sewing again, without her guidance, this is the machine that I chose.
Honestly I just bought it because it had so many stitches and the price was good. But now I recommend it for anyone wanting to pick up sewing. I put this machine through the ringer and it stuck with me. This Brother Sewing Machine was the perfect machine to learn how to sew. It would be a great machine for teens as well. You can find more about the Brother CS6000i Sewing Machine here.
Electronic Cutting Machine. Here’s the truth. I do not own a Silhouette or Cricut machine. Gasp. I know.
However I know this would be a great item to give a crafter because I want one under the Christmas tree for myself! Oh the things you could do!
Men of Earth – look no further for a great Christmas gift for your wife!
Glitter. It’s happiness in microscopic form. This is one of those items that crafters pass at the craft store and just drool over. You can never have too much glitter but you feel guilty buying 24 tubes of glitter just for yourself. It’s Christmas time, add a little glitter to the Christmas light bling.
You can find out more about the Martha Stewart Glitter 24 pack here.
Lion Brand Yarn has packaged 8 yarns that all seem to work together and make me feel young again. This is a great set of yarn to buy to remind you that you still have your youth and a lot of yarn projects left to make!
These would be great for making garlands with or making yarn wrapped wreaths. You can learn more and see the other colors offered here.
Dremels are just great tools. There are so many uses for them from sanding rough edges to polishing and cutting. I like it because it’s not as intimidating to me as some of the large power tools that you would have to use to do the same job.
Check out the Dremel and it’s many uses here.
And for the little crafters –
My two older girls will each receive one of these American Girl Craft kits for Christmas. They’re cute and walk them through a craft step by step. This pom pom kit would be great to pair with the yarn bon bons so that they can make more once the yarn from this kit runs out. They also have a large selection of kits for all interests. My middle child loves owls so I’m going to give her the Owl Stuff and Sew Kit.
Hopefully that can get you started if you’re stuck in a gift buying rut. How’s your shopping coming? Are you ready for Christmas yet?
