Dear John the Computer

Dear Computer, I loved you before you were made in the factory. I’m not sure where our relationship went wrong. Was it because I let the kids play MineCraft on you? It wasn’t personal. In no way do I feel like pixelated zombies are worthy of your splendor but they begged and so I relented. You’ve seen the 4 year old’s pity face on all the photos I have uploaded through the years. You know the torment I went through.  Now I’m not sure how to live my life without you. The blog called me and asked me to come back tonight. It’s been a few nights since we last danced you know, since the screens of death appeared as I was caressing your lovely keys. So now I type on his computer. Don’t be jealous. I know he made fun of your dripped coffee stains and pencil marks but I need him in my life. Don’t get me wrong please! I need you as well but he’s more than just data and fonts. You understand don’t you? Is that why you left? Or is it because I worked you to death without a day of updates and other pampering? Was your power cord too short? I can change that. I promise. I’ll get a longer one and give you more room to roam. Maybe we can go really wild and head out into the wild outdoors one day without the power cord, if you just come back. The Dr.’s are going to try to bring you back to me but my heart aches and my fingers cramp typing on these tiny keys of his computer. We were good together you know. You put up with my overload of files and photos that have no point or organization, not everyone could turn the other cheek towards that type of behavior.   Oh how I miss your large… clear… screen. Sigh. Now I’ll have to buy new glasses to peer at this little 13″ screen. Why did you have to leave? I would have done so much more for you. I’ll even go right now to buy a new can of air to spray over your keys. Maybe I can even spend hours covering your keys with washi tape that highlights your glowing personality.. um.. I mean…. operation system. It really didn’t have to end this way.  We could have gone on for many more years. You could have been the archaic machine that my friends would shake their head in disbelief that I was still using… I would have been there for you.  Now I’m left with nothing.
