Dollar Store Bunny Wreath

The dollar store is a great place to buy craft supplies.  Right now at The Dollar Tree you can find all the supplies to make your own Easter Bunny Wreath.  It’s easy and I only paid $8 for supplies. That’s right – you can make a bunny wreath for under $10 even though you’re going to pay $30 if you bought it in the store.  Honestly this is not the easiest craft you’ll ever do. There’s one issue that might happen that we’ll talk about in a minute. But this project is worth it.  Every time I walk by this easter wreath hanging on the wall, it just makes me happy. The Spring Butterfly Wreath is still on my front door so this wreath is hanging by the kitchen table and it looks great there.  To make your own Dollar Store Bunny Wreath you’ll need: One large wreath from The Dollar Tree – about 12″ diameter. Three (or more) smaller wreaths from The Dollar Tree -about 6″ diameter. Assorted Easter fake flowers ribbon thin brown wire – purchased from the jewelry department at a craft store I bought all the supplies except for the wire at The Dollar Tree. I used brown leftover wire from wire wrapped jewelry since it matches the wreath form better than green floral wire.  To start, wire the large wreath and one of the smaller wreaths together. This will form the body and head of the bunny.  I kept the wire to the center of the face / body so that it could be covered by a bow and not seen. Next it’s time to make the ears. This is the part that can be difficult.  Take one of the smaller wreaths and push each side of it toward the middle until it bends into the shape of an ear.   The first wreath worked perfectly and the wreath didn’t break in half, it simply bent and held it’s shape. You want one side of the it break and cross over each other to make a base for the ear. The top hopefully should stay connected and just form a point. The second wreath, for the second ear, snapped into two pieces. If I make this wreath again in the future, I will buy an extra wreath to try again if this happens. But I didn’t have an extra wreath and I didn’t want glue showing on the bunny wreath.  I pieced the ear back together by wiring the pieces back together on the backside of the wreath form. If you only use the wire on the backside of the wreath, it will hold the pieces together without being seen on the front side.  This took a little time and while I was working on the tip of the ear, the rest of one of the sides fell apart.   I was frustrated at this point and just wrapped the entire ear in wire to hold it together as you can see on the right ear. It held it really well and you do not notice it at all once it’s finished.  Now you’re going to wire each ear on to the back side of the wreath in the place you want it. Thread the wire halfway through the wreath form to keep it from being seen on the front.  Use scissors to cut off any extra edges of the ear piece that stick out past the head.  Wire all the pieces together until the bunny wreath is secure and tight. You will need a lot of wire.  I placed a few small white flowers at the base of each ear, with wire, to hide any wire or places where the wreath forms don’t perfectly intersect.    I also placed a few flowers around the neck of the bunny with a bow in the middle.  Decorate it with flowers to suit your own taste.  When you’re done the Bunny Wreath should look like this: There’s the perfect Easter craft – now hop to it!  If you love this project and want to save it for later you can pin it here:
