The sad fact about living in Texas is that if you want snow, you gotta make it yourself. There comes a point during summer in Texas, which lasts until December 1st and starts again in March, that you dream of being cold. Simply put, that’s how we came up with this slime that uses fake snow and glitter to mimic a cold winter day. We’re so creative that we decided to call it “Let it Snow Slime”.
It started as something fun, just to see if we could add some fake snow to slime and it turned out as one of my kid’s favorite slime recipes.
Even though this is made with a plain slime recipe, you can use a borax free slime recipe or a traditional slime recipe – it doesn’t matter, once you’re done adding things it’s fluffy and holds
Plus the little bit of glitter in it makes everyone happy.
Start with plain slime. We mixed this but didn’t add anything while we were mixing.
Once the slime was mixed, we added the smallest touch of blue food coloring with a toothpick to get a really icy blue color.
Once we had the blue color that we wanted, we added in some plastic fake snow pieces. We found this fake snow at Michael’s Craft store but you can get similar stuff online.
You want plastic fake snow that’s made for crafts, not the kind that you have to add water.
We added about 1/4 cup of the fake snow but it’s best to add a little, mix it up really well and then add more as you desire.
After you mix in the amount of fake snow that you want, add some iridescent glitter. Once again we would sprinkle some directly onto the slime, mix it up and then add more if we wanted it.
I love how it looks.
The coolest part about this snow slime is that if you rip the slime or pull it hard, snow falls out of it and sprinkles onto the table.
Hence, Let it Snow Slime.
You can also make little snowballs of slime by forming it into a ball and then rolling it in more fake snow. It’d be a cute present to wrap up and give to a friend.
It’s SNOW fun!
Snow humor, it’s weak in Texas.
Make Let it Snow Slime with your kids and then make yourself a Let it Snow mug, just for you.
(Yes, that’s the same fake snow!)
