Christmas Crack… it’s a wonderful thing for the most wonderful time of the year. But for some reason there’s a pesky holiday we like to call Halloween that stands in our way, preventing us from the chocolately toffee goodness known as Christmas Crack. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about don’t worry – it’s just saltines topped with toffee and chocolate.)
So what’s a girl to do when you just can’t wait any longer? Simple. Add a pop of fall traditions to your Christmas Crack.
To start you need to make a normal recipe for Christmas Crack. Now you can start the fun.
Stir the white chocolate well until it’s free of all lumps. Using a fork drizzle the white chocolate over the top.
Yum right? You can even do this to the toffee you make at christmas. Now we need to make it a little more festive.
I found these Pop Rocks at the grocery store the other day in the seasonal display. I’ve always loved Pop Rocks and now my kids love them as well.
Simply top the chocolate with Pop Rocks or other halloween themed candy.
I first tried this recipe with candy corn thinking they would melt on top of the hot chocolate. They do not melt, even if you put them back into the oven. It was ok. The candy corn was a little bland for the rest of this candy.
However the Pop Rocks were perfect. They added an element of fun which is what Halloween should be about.
If you make it using Pop Rocks do not put it into the freezer to set up. I did and when I took it out of the freezer the Pop Rocks started popping! Also if you live in a high humidity area such as Houston, the candy will only pop for about 8 hours before they start to melt down. If they melt down it’s still festive and fun so don’t worry too much. If you’re making these for a kids party you might just want to keep that in mind.
They are tasty and fun, the perfect treat for Halloween parties.
