Free Printable: Perfection
The responsibilities of being a woman are hard. You’re always expected to be the perfect wife with the perfect dinner on the table, the perfect mom with the perfectly dressed kids living in the perfectly clean house, or worse yet the perfect attitude every single second of the day.
So then there’s the mornings that you wake up very late and realize that your kids have all been up for a few hours without you. There’s no breakfast made, toys are everywhere and you feel worse than you would have had you woken up at the crack of dawn. Or there’s the day, perhaps the same day, that your house is a wreck and it doesn’t matter how much cleaning you do that day, it will remain a disaster. Maybe today your kids played outside in coats and rain boots in cold wet weather, or so you thought. It really turns out that when you weren’t looking they took off their jackets, socks and shoes and jumped in puddles, soaking wet and having a blast. Of course the neighbor caught sight of this before you did and gave a little head shake at the sight of wet kids jacket less kids in the cold weather.
Maybe today you referred to yourself as fat and your husband lovingly said, “you’re not fat… you’re fluffy”. He’s trying to be ultra sweet but actually by the world’s standards, you’re just fat. Fluffy means you have fur all over your body and I think actually I’d rather be fat than fighting with more facial hair than I already do.
There’s a lot of pressure as a woman to be the best, the perfection. But I have to admit the truth. I can try my ultimate best. I can wear myself down to the bone but the truth is that I will never be perfect.
Jesus didn’t come to this fallen world because of the perfect female images on magazine covers. God didn’t send His Son to die on the earth because He heard there was a perfect size 2 mom in Houston whose daughter always looked like she stepped out of a high end children’s boutique. The Holy Spirit didn’t stay here with us to comfort those who didn’t need comforting because they are emotionally steady at all times.
So here’s an announcement: I am not perfect. Whew. You are not perfect. Wow and sorry. That woman that we all hate because she’s too put together, she’s not perfect. She is just good at pretending to be perfect. There is not a perfect woman on this earth.
The best news is that Jesus did not come to save those things which are perfect because they do not need saving. Jesus came as the only perfection in this world to save us.
Sometimes, like today, I need to remember that my goal is not to be perfect because it’s unattainable and unnecessary.
I made this image to print out and put in my bathroom so I’ll remember that I don’t need to be perfect. When I wake up in the morning and see the gray hair, splotchy skin, the extra donut rolls, and mass wrinkles I’ll remember that if God send His Son here to save me, I’m already good enough.
Today I’d love to share this free printable with you. You can either right click the image at the top to save to your computer or click the link below to open a large PDF file. Print it out and put it where you will see it when you need a little reminder that God loves you how you are.
