Sometimes getting kids to read is harder than finding the weird smell in your refrigerator. If you’re having trouble getting your child to read, helping your kids fight off summer boredom or inspiring them to tackle a new book you need this free printable reading log.
Printable reading logs are a great tool to use to inspire your kids to read more. At first they might grumble. OK, they will grumble. But if you stick with it than it’s a great way to show them that they can read more than they might have imagined.
Let’s just be honest – I need this for my kids right now. They’re all stuck on playing games online and haven’t been reading for enjoyment lately. One of the reasons I made this free printable reading log is so that I can keep track of their reading.
This summer I’m challenging (forcing) them to read more. I’ve pulled together a basket of amazing books on their individual reading levels such as Trumpet of the Swans, The Secret Garden, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, and more and placed them in the living room in plain sight. Starting immediately there will be no electronics before they read for a set amount of time. Once they’re done reading each day they’ll have to log in their reading amounts and can earn extra perks with extra reading each day.
Combine that new rule with a summer reading program at the Library that offers prizes for reading ten books, I think they might find the inspiration to truly get lost in a good book.
It might not work. BUT I think it will.
Hopefully this Free Printable Reading Log will work for you as well.
