Summer seems to be slipping through our fingers at a rapid speed. The heat of summer is here and the pools are so hot that it’s not even worth trying to swim. That’s always a sign here in Houston that summer is coming to a close.
Right now we’re trying to pack all of the snowcones, summer breeze popsicles, and s’mores into our days that we can before we trade them out for pumpkin lattes.
If you love s’mores than this post is for you. If you hate s’mores but your kids love them, this post is for you. If you hate s’mores and your kids hate s’mores than I need to talk to you.
So let’s talk about how to make the best s’mores you’ll ever eat.
Step 1: Homemade Graham Crackers. Step 2: Homemade Marshmallows. Step 3: Add chocolate, open mouth and insert. I don’t know what it is but homemade graham crackers are heavenly. Plus they are a lot easier than you think! The great thing about making graham crackers from scratch is that you can decide how thick and soft or thin and crispy you want them. Do you love baked goods? Make thick graham crackers that are more like a bar or cookie to use with your s’mores. Do you love crackers and crispy things? Make thin graham crackers that will have a crunch to them when you bite down into them to use on your s’mores.
I promise, homemade graham crackers are worth trying at least one time (but then you’ll be hooked).
You can find the homemade graham cracker recipe here.
Ok so now I have you talked into trying homemade graham crackers from scratch right?
WELL… have you ever tried homemade marshmallows? These are life changing. Plus they’re the perfect thing to make right now while it’s still hot outside. Learn how to make them, get the process down and then you’ll be able to whip them up quickly for hot chocolate this fall.
Homemade marshmallows are fun to make with kids. They’re going to see all the different reactions of the sugar and heat mixed with whipping the marshmallows until they are huge and fluffy.
Then once you have them ready you get to choose what you roll the marshmallows into. The marshmallows you buy in stores are rolled in powdered sugar but have you ever tried to roll them in crushed oreo cookies? What about rolling them in little sprinkles to make ultra colorful s’mores?
Homemade marshmallows are fun!
You can find the recipe for homemade marshmallows here.
Ok so that seems like a lot of work.
What if you just want it to be more simple?
You can also try rolling the homemade marshmallows in smashed graham crackers and drizzling in chocolate for bite sized s’more marshmallows treats. Grab the recipe here.
Or if that’s more work than you want, dip store bought marshmallows in chocolate and coat the wet chocolate with crushed graham crackers then place them on a stick or paper straw for a cute presentation.
Don’t forget the absolutely yummiest way to eat a s’more using all store bought supplies:
Cookie Butter S’mores!
Yes! The goodness of Cookie Butter S’mores really does exist.
There’s so many ways to have fun with s’mores this summer. The best s’mores are the ones that you have fun making!
So fire up that fire pit, or the solar oven in the Texas heat and make s’mores!

Thanks now all I can think about is smores…and I can’t have any!!
