Do you remember that old commercial “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream”? That’s how I feel right now. The heat of summer has arrived and I’ve been craving all things cold.
A few years ago when we were living in a tiny house with no storage I asked Mr. Byrd for an ice cream maker. “When we move you can get one right away” was his reply.
Well… we’ve been in this house for 3 years this September and I’m still without an ice cream maker.
The good news is that I’ve been slowly saving an almost have enough put back to spend on one! Yea!
Of course the trouble now is choosing one. Do I want the cuisinart one that everyone swears by? An older style one that still uses rock salt? Or do I want to spend a little bit more and just get the attachment for my Kitchen Aid Mixer?
I have no clue! (But if you have a suggestion, I’d love to hear it.)
Don’t worry though I’m planning ahead.
The first thing you need once you actually get an ice cream machine is a few good recipes so I let my old friend Pinterest help in the search.
First on the list….
Krispie Kreme Ice Cream!
Hello Good lookin’, where’ve you been all my life? You can find the recipe for this drool worthy ice cream at Plain Chicken.
Next there’s Cookie Dough Ice Cream but this isn’t your regular Cookie Dough Ice Cream-
Regularly cookie dough ice cream is drops of dough in vanilla ice cream but this! this is ice cream that is actually cookie dough flavored. Genius right? You can find the recipe over at Take A Megabite.
If that didn’t have your mouth watering just wait….
Let me introduce blueberry cheesecake ice cream by La Famille Noire. Oh my. It’s so pretty and I want to taste it!
And finally once I’ve made one of these I’m going to have to add chocolate. Right? Chocolate is a necessity of life!
So I’ll pull out this homemade magic shell recipe by my pen loving friend (I do question her sanity) from The Grant Life and make the kids thing I’m the coolest mom ever!
What ice cream recipes would you make?
Also if you don’t like ice cream (also questioning your sanity) than try out some of these popsicles from Pinterest.
