Let It Snow – Free Cut File – Make These Super Cute Mugs!

Once upon a time, two old farts went on a date night. The female old fart was drug around to all the male old fart’s favorite haunts in exchange for one trip to the craft store during date night. To make this story go faster, let’s just let the cat out of the bag now – they never made it to the craft store. But just because you don’t get to ogle all the pretty craft supplies doesn’t mean that you can’t be creative.  Somewhere hidden in the depth of the sports store an idea was born – Let it Snow cut out of vinyl and put onto cute camping mugs. On the 10,000th trip around the sports store, trying to look like she might care, she found these cute enameled camping mugs. The great news is that they were cheap, under $2 each. Add less than a dollar worth of vinyl for each cup and you can have an easy and inexpensive gift for teachers, coworkers, or your neighbor (because you might need to apologize for the dog who thinks his job is to bark at the trees.) The best news is that I’m giving you guys a free cut file so you can use your vinyl cutter to make these for yourself.  If you don’t own a vinyl cutter, you’d be surprised to find out that you probably have several friends that do. I imagine that a cup of coffee and letting them keep any leftover vinyl would convince them to cut this out for you. Here’s tips and tricks for this project:

• These mugs are enameled camping mugs. I got these at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Texas but there’s several on Amazon – affiliate link- (set at very different prices) including blue, green, red and black. (blue is the cheapest.)
• These are not microwave safe. If you give them as a gift, I would recommend adding a tag stating that it’s best to handwash and not microwave safe.
• The best vinyl I’ve found for use on things that are washed often is Oracle 651.
• What vinyl cutter do I use? I have a Cricut and love it.
• To really set the vinyl after applying, blow dry the mug after applying the vinyl.
• These would be really cute filled with hot cocoa mixes as a gift or because of their large size, you could even fill them with dry soup mixes. 
• My favorite transfer tape is clear contact paper from The Dollar Tree. 

Now I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I live in Houston. It doesn’t snow.  So that snow right there in the picture? It was bought at the craft store – just obviously not on date night.
