Months ago after we watched Despicable Me 2 in the theater Princess Goofy told us she wanted to be a purple minion for halloween. Princess Girly Girl chose to be Batgirl and the littlest one wanted to be Jessie the cowgirl. It was all planned out in my head, as was the beautiful October in South Texas weather that we would be trick-or-treating in. That’s where I went wrong – planning.
I sat down and made my plan for how to make a purple minion costume and headed off to the dollar store with the girls to get the supplies. We already had a Jessie the Cowgirl costume so all I would need to make is a Batgirl costume and the purple minion. Of course in the middle of the dollar store, the littlest one decided that she wanted to be a yellow minion and there was no changing her mind. So I went ahead a picked up the few things to make a yellow minion costume and put the Jessie costume back into the dress up box.
A few days later while hitting up garage sales we found a mermaid costume in great condition for $2. That sealed the deal for Princess Girly Girl, she was set on being a somewhat toothless mermaid.
Needless to say I waited until the last minute and spent this week making minion costumes. About the time I finished the last one, it started to rain. The weather was not on halloween’s side as it poured in Houston non stop for the past few days.
Halloween it seemed would only involve costumes that would fit under a pancho, definately not a minion costume.
Looking at the costumes this morning I had a few bittersweet moments when I was sure they would never see the light of day.
Then around 3pm on Halloween it stopped raining and the puddles tried their best to dry up.
I guess minions bring the sunshine with them because the sun (and humidity) showed up!
Now the girls buckets are full of candy which I promise not to raid.
Adorable!!! So glad it stopped raining for you! It did for us in Michigan too (mostly)
