Truthfully I don’t have many machines or contraptions to craft with. I know how to hand letter signs and how to cut things out well with precision. However that doesn’t mean that I don’t drool over tools that would make it easier at times.
I do have a wishlist of tools that I wish I had to make crafting a little bit easier. Today I thought that I would share a few of my favorites with you to see if you agree.
1. Silhouette Cutting Machine –
It was love at first site the first time I saw a Silhouette. Sometimes when I go into Joann’s I have to wipe the drool off the display machines.
Silhouette has changed a lot over the years. They went from just being able to cut vinyl and paper to cutting fabric and sketching (yes! They can draw!). Now they’ve come out with the mac daddy of cutting machines, the Curio.
Not only can the Curio cut and draw, it can also emboss. I didn’t think the embossing feature was all that great when I read about it but then I hopped over to their website and saw this beautiful design on tin that I need in my life (Go check it out!).
Without a doubt, the Curio is first on my wishlist.
2. The Hobby Holster
Ok so the Hobby Holster is probably a little bit of a shock that it’s #2 on my wishlist of craft supplies. BUT! I’m the worst at just laying my glue gun down on it’s side and then getting to scrape the dried glue off the table.
Hello, my name is Bobbie and I use my glue gun recklessly.
I also loose glue sticks more than I use my mind so maybe this little tool would help me keep up with them. Probably not but a girl could hope.
3. Foil Applicator –
Foil is in right now, especially gold. It’s so funny that we’ve spent the last decade painting everything that was gold a nice shade of oil rubbed bronze but now we’re all dying for gold. I admit, I’ve caught the gold bug myself.
I’d love to be able to create my own shiny gold signs and decorations. Did you know that now’s there’s a machine from Heidi Swapp called the Minc Machine that applies the shiny foil right where you want it to be?
Did you know it was that easy? I’ll have the wipe the drool off of this one at Joann’s as well.
4. Self Healing Cutting Mat –
OK so I did have one of these mats for awhile. It turns on that if you accidentally iron on them, they warp permanently. I miss it.
Self Healing mats are a great tool for crafters especially if you use a rotary cutter for fabric or hardcore scrap booking.
If you like to sew but you’re still cutting out pieces by hand with a pair of scissors, run don’t walk, to your nearest craft store and pick up a mat and rotary cutter. You’ll thank me later.
5. A Jigsaw –
My husband loves me so much he gave me a jigsaw for Valentine’s Day one year. Apparently the lady checking him out at the store when he purchased it laughed when he told her it was my valentine’s day gift.
It was one of the best gifts he’s ever bought me.
I’m not confident in my ability to use power tools. I can’t walk in a straight line without falling but you want me to cut wood in half with a high power machine? HA!
The good thing about a jigsaw is that it’s easy to use and not as intimidating as a circular saw. I know that I can work on a ton of projects with my jigsaw by myself, without waiting for someone else to cut it for me.
If you want to start using power tools but aren’t sure where to start, look into a jigsaw.
So why is this on my wishlist if I already have one? He bought me one of the smallest and weakest ones until he was sure I wouldn’t cut off something I needed, such as fingers. I’m ready to move up to something with a little more power!
6. Hazel and Ruby Stencil Masks –
I saw these at Michael’s Craft Store a few weeks ago and I flipped! I know the pictures doesn’t show a lot of detail but you need these as well. You place the letters or designs on your project and then paint over them. Then you peel them off and leave behind a cute design such as this mason jar project.
Plus the best news is that the stencil masks are reusable so you can use them over and over again.
Hazel and Ruby has so many extremely cute designs. I can’t even start to tell you all the great designs. I hope you’ll hop over to their website and check out all the cute products they offer.
Hopefully you’ve found some great new products to add to your craft wishlist as well! Do you agree or disagree? Let me know on my Facebook Page.
