Not everyone loves the taste of peeps but no one can deny how cute they are. It’s easy to make simple easter snacks using peeps. If you have a stick or colorful paper straw, you can make some adorable treats using Peeps.
I know we’re still a few weeks away from Easter but they’re already in the stores. Do you know how I know this? I was in my local tiny neighborhood Walmart store on February 14th and it looked like Valentines had thrown up in the place. I am not joking.
Red heart balloons and streamers were everywhere. The tables were littered with valentines cards, cakes, cookies and so much more. It was so much that it was almost absurd.
Fast forward 12 hours and as being a mom often calls for, I was back at the same exact store. You know what? There was not a hint of hearts of flowers but there were more bunny butts than I could count. Easter exploded at that Walmart.
So today let me share with you two quick ideas that you can make using bunny peeps and a straw or skewer.
1. Fruit Kabobs Topped with Peeps
The cuteness of these almost kill me. I love them so much.
They’re simple to figure out but all you’re going to do is layer cut up fruit on the skewer.
To make the cuteness factor multiply, cut the strawberries into a heart shape. To do that simply cut the top into a “v” shape. That’s all it takes!
Top the skewer with a bunny peep and you’re ready to serve this adorable snack.
2. Chocolate Covered Peeps with a Bunny Tail
If the fruit skewers weren’t cute enough, check out these cutie patooties. I need to search the thesaurus for another word for cute.
Once again these are so easy that it’s almost crazy.
Start by shoving a paper straw up the bunny Peep’s butt. Just take your anger out on them.
Melt dipping chocolate (also known as almond bark) in the microwave according to the package instructions. While that’s melting, cut mini marshmallows in half with clean scissors.
Once your chocolate is ready, tip the bunny peep right into it and use a spoon to make sure all parts of it are covered in chocolate.
Place your chocolate covered bunnies on a cooling rack with wax or parchment paper underneath to catch drips. While the chocolate is still wet, place half of the mini marshmallow onto the bum of the bunny.
Let the chocolate harden and cool and then you’re ready to serve.
If you really want to get cute with it, put the chocolate covered bunny Peeps on top of the fruit skewers.
By the way, I just looked up synonyms for cute and nothing really works so you’re stuck with that word way too many times in one post.
