Summer Fun
It’s official. The kids are out of school and the homeschoolers are trapped, rocking in corners, just waiting for the quiet to return. But it’s also time to get outside and have some fun. You only get 18 summers with your kids so make it count!
So if you want to have an amazing summer day here’s a few ideas to help you.
1. Water Blob –
My kids are begging me to do this again and they have a laundry list of friends to invite over. It’s a great way to spend a hot day. The plastic stays nice and cool because of the water inside. Plus once you put your little ones down for nap, you can lie on it to read a book.
2. Water Bombs –
So the water blob isn’t your style. Have you tried water bombs? They’re like perpetual water balloons that don’t break or run out. As long as you have water, you can use them.
Or you can be the awesomest parent in the history of the world and let your kids play with water bombs on the water blob. It’s a water party!
3. Exploding Sidewalk Chalk –
We just tried this one the other day and it was a huge hit! It’s a great thing to do to keep those little brains going over the summer. Be prepared for the questions on why the bags explode.
4. Melted Crayon Art-
Life here in South Texas gets hot. Somedays it’s so scorching that you wish you could still just consider it hot. Sadly those are the days you might go nuts because it’s too hot for your kids to go outside. The best way to kill some time during those days is by letting the sun melt crayons on a canvas. It’s fun and educational.
5. Ways to cool down –
Now that it’s hot you need a way to get cool. What better way than popsicles and granitas?
One of my favorite is Green Strawberry Granita. If you haven’t tried a granita than you should right now! It’s similar to a snow cone but with a more natural flavor.
But there’s also popsicles to help you cool down!
Have you ever tried to make the easiest popsicles on earth?
So there you go! The perfect summer day. Finish it off with cold watermelon on the patio listening to the cicadas and you’ll be in memory making heaven.
