Summer Mini Wreath Using Dollar Store Supplies!
Who doesn’t love the dollar store? My kids scream for joy when they see us pull into the parking lot because they know I’ll probably buy them something AND I’ll let them touch everything in the store. Honestly if they break something there, I can afford to buy it! (This is also why we avoid Neiman Marcus.)
Dollar Store crafts are affordable but to me it’s more about the fun of making them.
Why are dollar store crafts fun? Because to make a successful dollar store craft you have to think outside of the box. Yes they usually have great craft supplies but it’s not enough.
When you go to the dollar store, don’t just walk down the craft aisle, walk the entire store and think of what else you can use the products for.
The summer mini wreath was inspired by the blue and white string that I found at The Dollar Tree. Really it’s not string, it’s a nylon clothesline that you can find in the home improvement section. You’ll actually need two of them to wrap the mini wreath form, also found at The Dollar Tree.
To make this wreath you’ll also need fake fruit and a small bundle of flowers. The one thing that you need that you won’t find at the dollar store is a glue gun and glue sticks.
Start by wrapping the wreath form with the nylon clothesline. You could also use rope or yarn.
I found that the easiest way to wrap the wreath form was by starting with a large dot of hot glue on the back of the form as a starting point. Press the end of your rope or string into the glue and let harden. Then just simply wrap around the wreath, using a dot of glue on the back every inch or so to help hold it in place.
Next you’re simply going to glue your fake fruit onto the wreath form. I placed mine in the middle of the wreath towards the inside. You can see the leftover clothesline that I was using to help hold the fake fruit up until the glue dried.
Because of the size of the fake fruit, I had to use a lot of hot glue to hold them in place. Plus I wanted just a little more color on the wreath so I grabbed a small bunch of flowers from the dollar tree and glued them under the fruit.
That’s it! When you’re done you’ll have a cute summer mini wreath that no one will guess you spend less than $7 on!
