The Cesspool of Germs
Let’s have a little recap.
Monday night Princess Newbie was sick. At first I thought it was from cutting her 2 year molars and then as it kept going and going, I thought it might be food poisoning. Tuesday she was doing so much better that we went to the zoo.
Wednesday on the way home from church Princess Goofy kept telling me her stomach hurt but she has some stomach issues so she says this a lot. I did not even question it twice. About three minutes from the house on a very dark country road I heard what sounded like water spilling on the carpet. Oh there was something on the carpet but it wasn’t water. Immediately after she was bouncing around and extremely happy. I considered there might be a stomach bug but who knows what they fed her at church and she does get upset tummy’s easily.
Friday Damion called me from work to tell me he was sick. He still wanted to stick to our plans to pick him up from work and head to IKEA. Halfway through IKEA he started looking more like a halloween decoration than a healthy handsome man so we left. He crashed in bed when we got home which means that I got to go to the fabric store (win!) while the poor guy was sick.
Sunday morning we were running late to church which was great because the kid’s ministry was having a slumber party and all the kids were asked to come in their Pajamas. Churches everywhere please listen…. please start asking kids to come in pajamas every sunday because there’s nothing easier than saying, “kids brush teeth and hair, let go of the cat’s neck and let’s get in the car.” No clothes to dress up in means no whining and crying because they can’t find the perfect green frog belt to match their maroon paisley dress. We got the girls to their sunday school classes and trekked up the three flights of stairs to our class when I started feeling a little off. Then during service when they said, “please stand” I just wanted to shout “nooooo!” and lay down in the fetal position. I was so layed out in the chair that Damion sent me a text asking if I was comfortable. I was dying inside.
Rather than leave and come home I decided to soldier through which was just what I needed. That post I wrote yesterday about struggling? Today’s message fit perfectly within that. The best part was that we took communion which was really 100% what I needed. To have that time to reconnect with the miracle of Jesus in purity and strength was so uplifting. I can’t say enough times that this morning, apart from begging to die a few times, was 100% what I needed.
To make a long story short; (like that is possible with me) This afternoon it rained hard and produced more rain than the total amount for the past 5 months. The drought is bad, we need prayers. It was dark and calming which was perfect for me to lay in bed and try to recover. Damion went and got dinner and then did some cleaning around the house.
Without a doubt, God reads my blog. 🙂 Just kidding. He doesn’t have to read it because I hope I live it close enough for Him to know. But He showed up today even if I was so sick that I couldn’t make sense of it until now.
So what should you take from this?
1. Stay away from my house. This place is a cesspool of germs. Save yourself.
2. When we obey God even when it’s hard for us, He recognizes it and fulfills your needs.
I need to get better. Tomorrow I’m taking the sick dog to the vet and I have the supplies for a fall wreath that have just been staring at me for a few days. Not to mention the halloween costumes, dress sashes for my sister’s wedding, and wedding cake decorations that I need to work on this week.
I’m passing out, literally. and just in case you’re wondering… I am not proof reading this tonight.
