Two nights ago Damion was telling me at dinner that his great uncle James had passed away. He was very old and had lived a great life so it wasn’t a somber death, just a peaceful time of passing. Of course Princess Goofy had to make the night memorable as she usually does. She asked Damion, “why did he die?”. To which Damion simply replied, “because he was old.” Open and shut case right? Well until Princess Goofy replied, “Mommy’s old, I bet she’s gonna die soon.” Damion would have probably told her no I wasn’t going to die soon if he wasn’t too busy choking on his dinner and rolling on the floor laughing. And then the old jokes continued for the rest of the evening. Which may I point out that Damion is older than I am by years. YEARS.
Since I’m so old and on the way out I need to share these two blogs with you right away. I love reading blogs of people that are real. There’s already too much fakeness in this world. While I love love love Better Homes and Gardens do you think that people’s homes really look like that day in and day out? No way! There’s a huge team of stylists that come when they are shooting a home and bring more accessories and decorations with them. Not only that but no one except my dad keeps their house that clean every single day. So I think there’s a need for women to show their real lives as an encouragement to others. These two blogs do that perfectly, they show their real life.
The first one is Little Blue Boo. Ashley from Little Blue Boo is one of the most creative women I’ve ever seen in my life. What she comes up with weekly / daily is amazing. Not only that but she’s had a rough year, one that would make most of us crawl up into a ball and not come back out but she is still going, choosing to spread her dad’s gift of “Choose Joy”. If you don’t read her blog then I’ll let you know that this year alone her dad passed away unexpectedly, she experienced a molar pregnancy resulting in an emergency hysterectomy and the discovery of cancer caused most likely by the molar pregnancy but if you read her blog you won’t be sad because she lives and breathes joy. She is uplifting and a great model of the type of women we should be, creative and joyful. Oh and her R Rated Elf On The Shelf series is hilarious. I really love reading her blog each day.
The second blog is one that I can’t read every day because it is just too hard hitting. No Greater Joy Mom is wrote by Adeye and is so inspiring yet extremely hard to look at every day because it chronicles their life as adoptive parents to child that were once deemed undesirable. It is hard to hear the stories and see the pictures of children in orphanages and institutions that are left there because of their disabilities. To see the pictures of how poorly this children are treated, or more so overlooked, in the orphanages are more than depressing. There is a call among us to take care of the orphans and Adeye along with her family are taking that charge seriously. Let me say that this blog has a ton of joy on it too as she chronicles the huge steps her children are making every single day since they came to their forever home but it will burden your heart about the forgotten children of the world. It’s a good message to spread though, one that needs to be heard. So if you have a heart for adoption or even if you don’t, just check out No Greater Joy Mom.
