This week I’m taking a mini-vacation. It’s not really a vacation. My kids are gone to their grandparents house which means I spent hours upstairs stuffing all the little tiny toys that have no purpose or partnering pieces into trash bags. The larger toys that they no longer play with got put into donation piles. The toy box that has been housing the hidden piles of toys and trash has been relocated to the garage for now. It was a lot of work and yet there’s still piles of junk to be sorted at this very second.
I was a hot sweaty mess but I couldn’t really take a shower because we were having issues with our hot water heater. To top it all off, then we found a small water leak in our bathroom ceiling.
So my plan to have a relaxing week where I could catch up on things on this blog or take a nap turned into a week full of chaos and exhaustion.
Wednesday night we kinda just melted into bed after hours of trying to figure out why we didn’t have hot water. Thursday in the late afternoon we finally got hot water back which means that today (Friday) I have to get up early to do a load of dishes and laundry before we leave to go pick up the kids.
There’s no rest for the weary, even when you’re planning a kid free week of fun! (Insert sentence about lack of fun here.)
If you’re still looking for some crafty ideas or recipes for this holiday weekend let me suggest the following:
1. The Patriotic Wreath – This was one of my favorite wreaths that unfortunately broke when something fell on it.
You can make a similar wreath using burlap, ribbon and flags.
2. Sprinkle Ice Cream Cones – These are so much fun! They’re the perfect touch to any BBQ!
Find out how to make theme HERE.
3. Easy Distressed Flag Vase –
This is a fun craft to make with any friends that come over to celebrate the fourth. They’re also quick to make so they’d be the perfect table decorations in a pinch. Find out how to make your own Distressed Patriotic Vase HERE.
4. Patriotic Pinterest Board – If you’re all about the red, white and blue or you need a few more ideas than check out my Pinterest board that is full of patriotic crafts and recipes!
I hope you all have a safe and very happy 4th!
Please be safe on the roads and do not drink and drive!
