No I didn’t birth her. I’m not getting up in the middle of the night to feed her (yea for teens!) and I haven’t bought a pack of diapers in 5 years. But it’s a new child in our home that we’re getting to know and love.
Not only that but our schedules have all flipped and things have changed. It’s all changed for the better but it’s different now. That means that many nights Mr. Byrd comes in our room and finds me already asleep! I used to be the night owl that was up until 1 and 2am working on a really great post for you guys but now I’m just tired and I have school drop off at 6:50am!
Most importantly, my priorities have been different.
We brought an exchange student here so that our kids could learn and grow from them. Our family as a whole wants to understand other cultures and how to love on people better. And we know that as Americans we take a lot for granted and wanted to learn to appreciate the little things again.
All of that has been happening and it’s so exciting.
But the past few weeks the priorities have been on forming our new family unit and helping grow those bonds.
You guys are awesome. You’ve supported me through so much and so I’m just asking for a little leeway for the rest of the month.
I’ll still be here. I have no plans to give up this space on the net.
My heart has always been with my family first. It’s the reason I started blogging so many years ago, so that I could be home with my family and chronicle our lives.
Thank you for always joining in on that.
As I tell Mr. Byrd on days that I don’t give him a side eye, “you’re a peach”.

That is a very loving way to live and I really like it.
Family forming takes time! So excited for you as you start this new adventure!
Thank you!
