Without a doubt this is one of my favorite projects that I have done this year. It is just so pretty sitting on the mantle with the christmas lights bouncing off the glitter. By simply decoupaging paper mache letters with wrapping paper and glitter I now have these amazing easy christmas decorations to make.
To make these letters that are decoupaged with wrapping paper you will need paper mache letters, paint, glitter, Mod Podge, paint brush and wrapping paper.
First you need to paint the edges of the letters with the same color as the glitter that you are going to use. You also want to paint the front and back edges of the letters in case your paper doesn’t perfectly fit, you won’t see the brown paper mache.
Next lay the letter on the back of the wrapping paper and trace around it to give yourself a template. Now you need to cut out two letters from the wrapping paper, using the template. You need two so you can cover the front and the back. Once you get the letters cut out, lay them on top of the paper mache letters to see how they fit. Trim any edges that are too big or hang over the sides.
Lightly paint the letter with Mod Podge. If you get the Mod Podge too think the wrapping paper will wrinkle and bubble up. Lay the wrapping paper on top of the Mod Podge and smooth it out. Do the same thing on the other side of the letter and let it dry while finishing the other letters.
Once all the letters are covered, they will look like this. That’s great but let’s kick it up a notch. How do crafters get wild and crazy? With GLITTER!
Paint one side of the letter at a time with mod podge. Remember that wherever you get Mod Podge, you will have glitter. So try to keep the mod podge only on the painted part.
Now apply glitter to the Mod Podge and you wil immediately have something FABULOUS!
After the glitter has set and dried, place them on your mantle and the light will bounce off the glitter and shimmer and shine. It’s gorgeous.
This would be a great project for christmas but would also be great to use as nursery name letters or for other holiday decorations.
If you love this as much as I do will you please Pin it? Thank you!

This is SO cute!!! I don’t have any room for it though :/
These are really cool – I don’t observe Christmas, but this could work with any setting. Thanks for the post! I’m going to pin this.
Where did you get your wrapping paper?
That was from Hobby Lobby last year.
I love this. I have NOEL and looked online for a decoupage tutorial and landed on this page. This is exactly the look i’m going for! Thank you for posting.
