Disclaimer: I am currently under the effect of pain pills. Anything that I say or write can not be used against me in the court of law, or in my husband's jokes. Also please excuse any and all poor writing skills tonight and the overuse of ....... , which is my favorite form of punctuation. And the fact that this is so long.... sorry about that. There's a little thing that we women like to call hormones. Men hate them, women cry at the mention of them and my kids run and take shelter. Some times hormones aren't an issue, they just come and go and we make it through them just fine. … [Read more...]

Happy Easter
We say the words, "He is Risen", every single Easter. Passing by each other in church, calls to family, chats with neighbors all end in the same way for believers, "He is Risen". But day after day the words just come out of our lips as habit, missing meaning. Can you imagine the excitement of the women that first saw Jesus? Their hearts racing and pumping because His promises had come true! Because the one who had come to save them had lived up to His side of the bargain, and then some. In no way would their conversation with other about what they had seen been mediocre, barely excited, … [Read more...]
My Easter Gift.
True Journalism is the willingness to give freely of yourself and embarrass yourself daily, or at least that is what I like to tell myself. Yesterday was crazy. We got up early to go see a few houses that are for sale and we wound up falling in love with one. The downside is that ours still has not sold, therefore we can't buy the one we love. After that we grabbed some food at the place of Princess Goofy's choosing, Chikfila. The thing is that the night before I had cracked a tooth eating a soft taco. You better watch out, the soft ones are dangerous. I didn't sleep at all last night, … [Read more...]
Princess Goofy is 5. and I’m old.
Princess Goofy as Captain Hook. And yes, that's my dough hook. Someone is turning 5 today. That someone is the most interesting, funny, and creative kid that I've ever met in my life. Her imagination is only limited by the amount of furniture I'll let her scale and my thoughtless notion that she needs to clean up whatever mess she makes. Her creativity comes out a lot in her clothes. You NEVER know what she's going to come out of the house wearing. And yes, this outfit is cute, but for every cute outfit there are 5 or 6 that aren't cute... they're just questionable. That' s when I tell … [Read more...]
Let’s Strip! (Paint)
For all you sickos that saw the header and thought something else, shame on you! Just kidding!! We are going to strip but we're going to keep it G rated and only strip paint. In case you have never heard, there is quite a conundrum with my kitchen cabinets which were painted before we moved in. The contractor who painted before we moved in did a great job applying a primer that won't come off but the dork who lives here (me) is horrible at painting the cabinets. I have painted them three times in the seven years we have lived here. Even though the contractor that painted the cabinets … [Read more...]
Blessed
Today..... It hit me about how extremely and overly blessed I am. Damion actually read my blog post from yesterday. He tried to tell me that he reads them every day and does not just look at pictures but then I asked him about the post where I talked about putting his toothbrush in the toilet and he was busted! He does not read every day! Princess Goofy told me that for Jesus to come live in her heart He was going to have to "grow very, very small", while holding her hands up to show the the size He would need to be. Love that girl. In her prayer tonight she also went on and … [Read more...]
Dreaming Big
Anyone that knows me really well knows that I am passionate about adoption. I know that I was called early in life to be a voice for adoption but I think that so far I've failed at that miserably. Adoption is biblical, extremely biblical. Christians are called to take care of those who can't care for themselves. That my friends would include adoption. I have been so blessed and honored with friends and family in my life that have taken in and loved orphans as their own including one of my fabulous sisters and my good friend, Robyn. However it's not the right time for my family right now to … [Read more...]
The Pioneer Woman Cooks
Last week I wrote the truth of truth, also known as "Why I Will Never Be Invited to Pioneer Woman's Ranch". Then I was blessed with the chance to give away her new book, Black Heels to Tractor Wheels signed by Ree herself to Kristin Holt. It's all good stuff. Tonight I have more good stuff. You can call me "Queen of the Good" if you want to. Just sayin... A signed Pioneer Woman Cooks cookbook byThe Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. The timing of this giveaway is perfect since Ree announced yesterday that she will have her own show on Food Network this summer. Please... You better … [Read more...]
Quick(er) Croissants
The other day I really really wanted some homemade chocolate croissants. It was a hankering that I just couldn't shake. Truth is that I had never made them before so when I googled a recipe I was shocked to find that it would take about 14 hours to make them. I don't have 14 hours to wait, I would be attacking the raw dough in the fridge at 2am. So today I set out to find a method to make them faster and you know what? It worked! They were a little flatter than the ones that take forever and a day but in a pinch, when you have a craving or need them for a baby shower, they're … [Read more...]
Dance Your Shoes Off.
Remember that mega church that we joined that I was all so hesitant about? I'm falling more and more in love with it each day. In every mega church I've ever visited the pastor is non existent after service. I think you'd have more luck finding the easter bunny after church. But not at this one we've joined. Sunday our Pastor, Stephen Baliff, gave a great message about forgiveness but I had some questions. When I left sunday school that day, there he was... just walking the halls. So we stopped and talked for a minute. Then today I got an email with this video. WOW. yeah, that's our … [Read more...]
The Repurposed Bracelet.
I'm still in my craft funk. Most likely it's from the pure fear that the second I get the glitter out and the kids send it flying to all corners of the house, which is a law of relativity.. I promise, that I'll get a phone call wanting to show our house. Yesterday I pulled out a pattern and some fabric to sew but once I realized I wouldn't have time to finish the project before I had to put it all away, I just put it up. Right now my creativity is flowing in the form of cleaning and hiding objects in the case of a sudden showing. Did you know that toilet tanks are a good place to hide … [Read more...]
